A Little Prayer
by S.E. Kiser
That I may not in blindness grope,
But that I may with vision clear
Know when to speak a word of hope
Or add a little wholesome cheer.
That tempered winds may softly blow
Where little children, thinly clad,
Sit dreaming, when the flame is low,
Of comforts they have never had.
That through the year which lies ahead
No heart shall ache, no cheek be wet,
For any word that I have said
Or profit I have tried to get.

Just Passing Through

by Ellen Bailey

People often say we are Pilgrims, just passing through
And if we think about it, this statement is probably true
We are here for a little while, but don't known for how long
We won't be coming back again, not after we are gone

Each tomorrow gives us another chance to choose
The path we will follow, as through life we cruise
We can follow in the footsteps that Jesus left for us
Or we can venture out on our own, if we really must

But we can all be better Pilgrims, while passing through
If we help spread some kindness, and a little charity too
When we meet someone in need, we should try to help
Happiness comes from helping others, not just ourselves

The history of our pilgrimage will be recorded somewhere
And those who journey after us will know we were there
Let us leave them a well-worn path, that is clearly defined
Marked with acts of generosity, and lots of goodwill signs

So Many Different Churches

by Ellen Bailey

There are many different churches; but how can that be?
When there is only one Holy Bible for all to read
There is one church over here and one over there
And they all profess to be THE house of prayer

There are many different churches; but how can that be?
When we need to worship with love and in harmony
But man wants to separate  his church from the rest
And goes around boasting that his is the very best

There are many different churches; but how can that be?
When a church isn't a church, please take heed
The church you attend just might be another house
With all the people inside and the Lord on the out
